Shenzhen Coastal Primary School

The landscape design concept of Shenzhen Coastal Primary School - architecture by Shenzhen Architecture Design Institute - is creating a unique outdoor environment for both leisure activities and education opportunities in a school campus by blurring the typical boundary between the learning-oriented buildings and the outside space for playing. The design on 13400 square meters forms the landscape in a pixel language that is consistent and unifying multiple levels of the school, which encourages learning through play while being inspired by the landscape. As many additional schools are planned to open over the next few years in Shenzhen, an immigrants city of China, this project hopes to inspire designs that embody a natural, engaging, and safe environment that students enjoy.
